Dirty Finger
When we first moved in to our new office, our main door had the traditional lock. It was a bit more secure than the average lock since we had to maneuver the keys and eventually find the need to master the locking and unlocking technique of that particular office door.
Unfortunately, this technique wasn’t too convenient for everyone. The reason behind this was that a normal day at work would involve going in and out of the office (to go to the restroom, to go to meetings, to have lunch, to go to the main office) for several times. This proving to be quite a hassle, led us to request for different locking mechanism for our door. For some time we even settled on leaving the door ajar.
Finally last week they installed fingerprint scanners at our door. We had to get our fingerprint scanned whenever we leave or enter our office. I knew I was going to have a little trouble with it because of my sweaty hands. I always get requested to rescan my print whenever I register for something. The lines on my fingers are probably too shallow, I don’t know. It’s such a hassle also because whenever my fingerprint gets rejected, it makes this distinct beeping noise which gets everyone’s attention, so it pretty much just works like a doorbell for me.
You could hear the beeping sound that would indicate that my fingerprint was denied access. Then you could hear me attempt for about five to seven times. Lucky for me, my colleague took pity on me and opened up the door for me.
I honestly think it’s the system at all, not everybody seems to have the same problem with it. I suspect that it’s because of the sweat and the different fingerprints already smeared on the scanner (spreading virus faster hehe). I tried wiping my hands and the scanner with tissue before I place my finger but I still get the same results. LOL. I just feel sorry for my officemates by the door that will have to open it for me when I’m denied access.
