Carrots & Celery
When it comes to vegetables on my plate, I am very particular about the color combination and how they are sliced. It has always been my style (and I guess everybody else’s) to cut everything the same way. For this dish I sliced the carrots and celery the same way, slightly thicker than your perfect julienne strips.
The carrot is one of the more common vegetables we would have in our meals back home. When I was little girl, I’ve always wanted to learn to eat this raw. This was mostly because of Bugs Bunny.
Celery is one of the many vegetables I learned to love right away. I love that it has an aftertaste, I like that it’s crunchy and that it has a very distinct taste. Many people don’t like celery because they can’t stand the smell or the taste. I love celery! It isn’t much considering that I’m somebody who eats bell peppers, mustard leaves and bitter gourd with much gusto. I must admit, I haven’t conjured up the courage to make myself a glass of celery juice yet.
I hope more people learn to eat vegetables because of the health benefits (and also in hopes that we all get our fair share of meat! :) )
Pancit-Eating Mother-Hopper
I have always been very specific when it comes to my food cravings. It is a bit tough for in the recent months, I have been craving food that can only be found in the Philippines. (This makes me wonder how I’ll survive when I start having weird food cravings when I get pregnant.) It all started with desserts like puto, cuchinta, bananaque and even the yoyo bread from a bakeshop near our subdivision. Then I began to crave for ngohiong, the siomai we have in Cebu, and even the fried chicken I used to have for lunch when I was in college. I never get to satisfy these cravings but that doesn’t stop me from finding something else unavailable to crave. This week Red Ribbon Pancit Palabok is what I’m hungering for yumyumyum. I tried out a dish called Mee Rebus once at a food center near my office. I was so excited! It looked so much like palabok and I was desperate to find a dish that would make me feel right at home. It had the same thin noodles, same orangey sauce and the uncle even squeezed lemonsito juice on it. But after a spoonful, I found that it tasted nothing like palabok. It wasn’t bad, I wasn’t really disappointed, they did name it Mee Rebus because it wasn’t palabok. Hahay. LOL.

This is why coffee makes us feel so good.
Korean food for lunch last Friday. It’s Friday again tomorrow, I wonder what I will be having for lunch then.
There are a lot of things that make our mouths water.
Chocolate and Shoes have to be the top 2 in my list! :)
